Weather Update as of 6:00 AM, Sunday, May 27
After speaking with local emergency management agencies, we have been advised to cancel Sunday’s games so that teams from out of state can get on the road early. NOAA Weather forecast rain and thunderstorms starting as early as 10:00 AM. Instead of trying to start games today and potentially having delays which could possibly have us playing late into the evening. We could very possibly get some games in today but with half the teams in the event from out of state, it just makes sense to err on the side of caution. This area is now under a Tropical Storm Warning. The worst of the storm is predicted overnight tonight into Monday so this gives teams the opportunity to get on the road back home ahead of the peak impact.
Awards for the event are based on seeding at the time the event is cancelled. All #1 & #2 seeds can come to Frank Brown Park this morning between 8:00-9:00 AM to pick up your awards.
Thank you and please travel safely.
Coaches & Team Moms,
Lots of questions regarding the weather for this weekends event in Panama City Beach, Florida! As of Wednesday, May 23, 2018 we are still going to hold the event as planned. We have spoken to the National Weather Service at the Airport and we have been told that the rain chance for Saturday has now gone down to 60% as the system is forecast to move farther west than originally anticipated. With that said, this is the Florida panhandle and weather can change in an instant. It may rain 2-inches on one end of the beach and not rain a drop 2-miles down the beach. We understandably appreciate everyones trepidation regarding the weather but at the same time we have no way of accurately predicting what is going to transpire at Frank Brown Park. Please understand we are going to do everything possible to get in as many games as possible this weekend.
Please also check your respective age divisions schedules as we have made some changes from the original posting earlier today.
Thank you for your support of Grand Slam Sports Tournaments and we look forward to hopefully getting some baseball in this weekend!
